Fixed Odds Betting
Fixed Odds betting is probably the most popular way to bet
on football in the UK. As the name suggests, the odds are
fixed so you know how much you are going to win or lose before
you place your bet, unlike in spread
betting. There are three possible outcomes on fixed odds
betting, home-draw-away whereas there are only two in asian
handicap betting.
The odds are shown in fractional terms such as 7/1 (seven-to-one)
or 15/8 (fifteen-to-eight) which means that the bookmakers
think that for every seven games the team plays, it will win
once against the opposition. Some bookmakers show odds in
decimals, for example the 7/1 fractional odd is translated
into 8.00. To calculate your winnings, you simply multiply
your stake by the odds.
